The 'depainting series' (ger: 'Entmalung') are now scraped off once full colored paintings, where remnants of the oilpaint as well as frequently the shedded paint alike are the only witnesses of the former picture. This way not only the big art-immanent question of "what is a painting?" is asked with a new and challenging approach, but also the recipients imagination is summoned to make up his own vision of the initially painting. The depaintings therefore work on two levels simultaniously - one is the very aestetic haptic object with its ultra flat white areas and the complemented color residues, partly three dimensional mountain like heaps of piled up oilpaint - and a second very personal ever differentiated afterimage-like level through the imagination of the viewer.
